Platea: Connection to the Mediterranean
A privileged location, close to Mediterranean sea ports and to Zaragoza, the capital of Aragon, via an excellent road network, availability of generous spaces, flexibility in installation and a range of competitive prices have made Platea a benchmark for the automotive accessories and components sector, but also for agri-food-related activities, which have found the chance to expand their business in Teruel.
At 2,545,510 square metres, the Teruel Logistics/Industrial Platform has a unique location, integrated into north-south rail (Cantabrian and Mediterranean corridors) and road (Mudejar Highway) traffic routes and itineraries from the centre of the peninsula to the east.
Platea Gestión S.A., a company owned jointly by the Government of Aragon, through the Corporación Empresarial Pública de Aragón S.L.U., with 94% of the share capital, and the Teruel Provincial Office with 6%, is responsible for its management, execution and promotion.
Platea is located six kilometres from Teruel town centre, 177 kilometres from Zaragoza, 145 kilometres from Valencia, 144 kilometres from Castellón and 474 kilometres from Bilbao. It has excellent road connections to the Mudejar Highway (A-23), from Sagunto to the French border through Somport, to the Mediterranean Motorway (AP-7), the artery connecting the whole Mediterranean coast from the border with France to Algeciras, and to the Basque Country-Aragon Motorway (AP-68). It sits less than two hours from the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Castellón, and four kilometres from Teruel Airport (PLATA), a world-leading airfield for aircraft maintenance and dismantling. The continuing connection improvement projects aim to link the Teruel platform by train to the main reference ports in the area.
Companies from various sectors are already installed in Platea, such as Jamones Albarracín, Sendin España, Turolense de Maquinaria, Transportes Callizo and the Giró Group, among others. But its proximity to Opel and Ford car manufacturing plants in Zaragoza and Valencia respectively is making it a reference for the motor components and accessories sector. Especially noteworthy is the presence of the Swiss company Ronal Ibérica and the German Röchling Automotive.
In a complementary fashion, Platea offers a top-class training and innovation offer – through the Aragon Logistics Platform – with leading centres in logistics development and support, which has become a global commitment in the region.
